in the world of finance, there is a simple calculation, called the Doubling Rule, which one can use to approximate the number of years that it will take to double one's money, at a given compound rate of return. It is also called the RULE OF 72, which is simply about taking 72, and divide it by the compound rate of interest. For instance, if the average savings rate in Mauritius is at a compound rate of 2.5%, and you take a sum of money and put it on your savings account today, it means that it will take approximately 28.80 years (72 divide by 2.5) to double your money.
